Bdellium

So what does all that mean? It means we are trying something a little bit different. This is a role-playing environment that does not rely on a rich, well developed world setting. It does not even need one. While you are on board Bdellium you can pretty much throw the rule book out of the window. Porthole. Whatever.

In this game you can play any character from any world and in any setting. Reality has gone mad aboard this magical ship. Open one door and it may lead you to a simple, plain ship's cabin. Open the next and you may step out onto a vast grassland. You may enter one way to a bawdy dockside tavern then three weeks later open the door to the latrine and find yourself back in the room where you started. You may leave a companion in one room then return seconds later to find them, or you, aged twenty years.

If you have seen the movies Cube and, especially, Cube2: Hypercube, you may have some idea of what to expect (or think you do), but don't worry if you haven't seen them you don't need to have watched them to play (though I would recommend them regardless :)

Essentially you make the rules and you define what will happen. Obviously there will need to be some kind of unifying thread or control mechanism and one way to do this is through the use of several "constant" characters controlled by the GMs. These characters can act as guides or "plot-elfs" to help along players or plots as needed. They can also help to give a sense of "whole" to this (un)naturally disjoined environment.

Also, don't worry if you are ever stuck and don't know what to do or where to go (such ultimate freedom can be daunting). If ever you need help in this way simply leave your post with an open door and we will tell you what, or who, waits on the other side of it.
